Fuel theft

Your Neighbourhood Policing team would like draw your attention to the vulnerability of fuel stored in heating oil tanks which residents may not have secured. As you are probably aware most heating oil tanks are located discreetly, and are often out of view. Our advice would be to make sure they are always secured with a pad lock or other type of locking device. 

Consider cctv if your tank is very concealed where someone may be able to remove fuel without being seen, remove ladders or items which may help someone get up to the top of your tank, check your fuel level regularly.
